This forum was organized as an offshoot to the action planning of the Domestic Market Roadmap that was spearheaded by GIZ and DTI for the furniture and furnishings sectors. GIZ commissioned a Market Sensing Study for the Domestic Market and presented the results during the VC Planning workshop with furniture and furnishings stakeholders. This also served as a venue to formally organize the “Coalition of the willing” in penetrating the domestic market, being one of the strategies identified in the action plan.

The forum was attended by 20 furniture companies; ACCESSORIA, BON-ACE FASHION TOOLS, CASA CEBUANA, CASTILEX INDUSTRIAL, CATARMAN INDUSTRIES, CEBU FIL-VENEER,  CEBU NATURA CRAFTS, COAST PACIFIC, COSONSA MANUFACTURING, DETALIA AURORA, ENPEKEI, GIARDINI DEL SOLE, INSULAR RATTAN, JAMAICA MARKETS, MURILLOS’S EXPORT, OBRA CEBUANA, SAN GABRIEL METAL CONCEPTS, PHILCOAT SYSTEMS & SOL’NS, WICKER & VINE and F&R CENIZA FAMILY TRADING and representatives from our partners, Mr Victor Macam, of BCI Asia, Architect Buck Richnold Sia, President of the United Architects of the Philippines, Sugbu Chapter (UAP) and IDr. Adrian Del Monte of the PhilippineInstituteofInteriorDesignersCebuChapter (PIID).

Architect Buck Richnold Sia, President of UAP, Sugbu Chapter, urged Cebuano exporters to sell to domestic market as design capability and high quality of Cebu furniture products can definitely compete with hi-end market vis a vis the high cost of imported furniture. After the open forum, participants were able to identify action plans namely: development of a directory of manufacturers willing to serve this market, product / market orientation with PIID, factory visit to furniture and furnishings manufacturers and linkages with local trade shows.

CFIF invited BCI Asia to present business information on construction project leads which the manufacturers can tap services with in developing their domestic market base.

The forum was sponsored by DACROL PHILIPPINES, through Budget Builders, Inc.
